Filling the gap of school meals during holidays.
‘Eat on the Street’ is an exciting programme aimed at tackling holiday hunger through street-based activities. Supported by Leeds Community Foundation, BMDC and Give Bradford, we offer team games and youth work activities in parks and gathering points during school holidays, where we cook outdoors and make sure everyone who takes part is being fed nutritious food when there is no school meal available.
Eat on the street combines sporting, arts and outdoor education activities with the distribution and consumption of nutritious food for children, young people and families. Youth workers deliver a programme of activities that support health and personal development, while allowing for plenty of fun and enjoyment. Activities include team games, music, boxercise, static bike marathons, arts & crafts and workshops teaching healthy food preparation. The activities are a vehicle to keep young people engaged and attending, with every session accompanied by nutritious and healthy food.
