Providing support at street level – where parents, schools and others have little reach.
StreetSafe provides wrap-around support for young people at street level – a setting where parents, schools and most other services have little reach.
Throughout our communities across South and West Yorkshire, teams of youth workers engage large numbers of young people at street-level, running engaging programmes of positive masculinity, knife-crime awareness and similar work. Youth workers deliver interactive street-based workshops, promoting positive attitudes and boosting knowledge on the most prevalent issues.
The work is aimed at the most marginalised and disengaged 11-18-year-olds and is delivered on street corners, in parks, outside shops and other congregation spots. Young people using such spaces in their social time are engaged proactively, in a way that builds aspirations and offers developmental opportunities.
