The Youth Association is set to launch a new training programme for young people in the Dearne Valley near Barnsley. We have linked with our partners in ITS Training to create an exciting new training scheme aimed at young people aged between 16 and 18 who are not in education, employment or training and who live in the Dearne Valley area. The programme is part of the government’s E2E initiative and will offer a 12 week course of activities and group work aimed at helping young people to decide what they want to do next in their lives, to pick up useful new skills, to learn how to find and get jobs and to move on to something positive. Based in our centre at Manvers in the Dearne Valley, the course will see local young people getting the chance to experience plenty of outdoor activities and fact-finding visits to useful places of interest. The training course is accredited and involves a residential experience for those who complete it. TYA trainers and management are currently negotiating an extension to E2E training in Barnsley with other funders and we hope to be able to make further positive announcements in the near future. If you live in the Dearne and you think Train Up may be able to help you, get in touch with our trainers through the Train Up pages on the website, or call our head office for more details.
