On Saturday, 15 young men aged 16-21 gathered from all over South and West Yorkshire to try out for a new feature film. The Youth Association played host to a London casting agency who were looking for Yorkshire lads to star in an upcoming movie.
During a packed 2-hour workshop, the aspiring young actors improvised scenes of their own making and participated in a range of drama games and exercises. None of the 15 auditionees have had any previous experience of acting, but the casting agency are looking for new and raw talent, so everyone was in with a shout of finding their inner-actor and landing a part in the film that will depict army life.
All the lads were clearly excited and nervous, but soon entered into the spirit of the workshop and gave it their best shot. The Youth Association is always keen to help young people aim for their highest ambitions and aspirations, including a shot at the big time and Hollywood, so Gill Arabskyj (one of our Senior Youth Workers) was happy to help bring the session together. She said, “All the lads were fantastic! They gave it a go and they were really brave. I think they all deserve a big break.”
The hopefuls will hear if they have a part in the movie in the New Year.
