Young people from The Youth Association started their Christmas holidays in style, bag packing for Morrison’s customers.
8 young people from across the local area gave up their Christmas fun to volunteer to spend a few hours packing bags for Morrison’s customers. They served over 300 customers and filled more than a thousand bags of shopping.
Their hard work paid off! On a busy Friday afternoon and evening they raised nearly £300 in much needed funds. The money will be used to pay for youth work provision in the area.
Sammara Marshall (age 15) said, “I was a bit worried before we started that it would be a bit boring but it was great fun. All the shoppers were really friendly and it was nice to do my bit to help people in the run up to Christmas.”
Dan Hall, the youth worker who organized the session said, “Youth work has been in the firing line recently from all the cuts. We wanted to do something to raise a bit of cash to support work with young people in this area. Young people led the way which was great.”
