Youth Work Course at Wakefield College

Our brand-new Youth Work course has started at Wakefield College! There are very exciting times ahead and we are already seeing ground-breaking success, as our first group of 16-18-year olds have started their journey on the youth work course.

Here at The Youth Association, we are driven by the values and principles of Youth Work and our aim is to promote this to the students on this course and more widely around the college and the community. This course has been carefully planned to ensure that the learners will get the most out of their experience and learn essential youth work skills.

It is encouraging to see such engaged and enthusiastic students already on board with the course, who have creative, new ideas to bring to the field of youth work. The students have expressed a real interest in the course, one student has said:

“I am really glad I chose to do this course; I get on really well with all my course mates and I am already learning important skills such as teamwork and confidence skills. I am excited for the year ahead” (Leah, 17).

There are many exciting opportunities available for these students while studying the course, and it will provide them with a wide range of academic and practical skills which will open their minds to potential careers in many different fields, such as; youth services, schools, youth offending teams, community centres and many more.

It is so great to see such a positive start to this course, especially the impact it is having upon the learners, and there is much more to come!

This course has built on the ongoing partnership between The Youth Association and Wakefield College, and it is great to see this is going from strength to strength after 5 years.
