In the month of International Women’s Day, young women in Killingbeck (Leeds) have gathered to consider the focus of a new young women’s project.
The seed was planted when young women who had taken part in decorating the local community building shared their love of professional make up.
Visits to local colleges have been planned, employment and self-employment have all been discussed as options for their futures. These conversations have encouraged others to consider their aspirations, desires and the challenges which will face them between now and leaving school.
In order to ‘slay the beast’ of self-doubt, young women will negotiate TYA’s brand new Street Smart accreditations such as Public speaking, Money management, Project management and Self-awareness.
‘Being oppressed means the absence of choices’ bell hooks
Happy international women’s day 2019.
