The National Youth Agency is encouraging youth participation champions to access a new online community, which aims to share good practice and knowledge. Youth Engagement: Young People’s Voice and Influence in Local Democracy is the new National Youth Agency Community of Practice forum.
Youth Engagement builds upon the foundations of the former Hear by Right forum. It will provide a dedicated environment for professionals – seeking to place young people’s voices at the heart of their organisation – to discuss challenges and exchange examples of what does and doesn’t work.
Through the Youth Engagement Community of Practice we are interested in identifying and analysing what makes for effective youth involvement in a variety of local democratic structures – principally via local authority processes, but especially focusing on how communities, their young people and partners have developed real and tangible change to services, resources, buildings and attitudes at a local level.
Richard McKie, National Youth Agency national programme manager
Community of Practice is a Local Government Improvement and Development online community platform, designed to support collaborative networks for those involved in local delivery: central departments, local authorities, other public bodies, frontline staff, health staff, people working in charities and the private sector who are in some way delivering for the public.
