A new and collaborative approach to addressing community tensions and poor social mixing
The ‘Common Ground’ Project adopts a model of coproduction, empowering the people of Great Horton to address local issues. The work is underpinned by deep relationships between our service and local people, whereby our team builds trust and establishes an ongoing dialogue around issues of concern.
The language skills and background of our Roma-heritage Community Development Worker accelerates progress, providing a previously-absent ability to speak to some members of the community. Residents are convened regularly to work together and address local priorities. This includes community clean-ups, community events and other similar initiatives aimed at establishing inter-group dialogue and increasing access to services already on offer.
