Adopt the Outdoors in its final year

Our street-based youth work project – Adopt the Outdoors – has had a successful second year in the Monk Bretton Ward. Our youth workers have been continually on the streets throughout the year and have worked with 228 young people! Street-based workshops and activities are taking place in Monk Bretton and Lundwood on a weekly basis.

62 young people have taken part this year in Adopt the Outdoors challenging activities, including team games, skiing lessons, bush craft, outdoor arts, outdoor cooking and hill walking/expeditions. Three young people have gained employment following volunteering with us. Others are suggesting that the experience/training we’re providing is making them more optimistic about their futures. Young people tell us that we have given them the opportunities to develop skills, confidence and ambition.
