Rachael is 1000th Associate!

The Youth Association passed a great milestone this week, when we welcomed our 1000th Associate.  It was a cause for celebration when Rachael Hattersley met with Youth Association Chief Executive Andy Clow, to be told that she was the 1000th Associate to join and to receive £50 in gift vouchers and a bag of Association ‘goodies’.  Posing for photographs, Rachael said, ‘This is all a bit of a surprise really, but it’s a nice surprise’.

Rachael has just volunteered to become a mentor for young people at Northorpe Hall in Kirklees.  After training, she will be matched with a young person and meet them for 2 hours each week at Northorpe Hall, where she will offer encouragement and support and be a helpful friend to talk to.  Rachael did similar kinds of volunteer mentoring work when she was a student and is pleased to be a volunteer again.  ‘I’m just happy to be able to give something back to the community’, she said.  Tom Taylor, Northorpe Hall’s Chief Executive, was pleased that Rachael had become the lucky 1000th Associate and praised all the volunteers that work with his team and the great work they do.

Rachael, who works in a bank during the day, is going to be extra busy.  On top of her weekly volunteering at Northorpe Hall, she has also recently started her own hypnotherapy business called ‘Aspire to be’.  Welcoming Rachael to the Association, Andy Clow wished her luck with her voluntary work and in her new business.  ‘I hope The Youth Association can keep supporting Rachael for as long as she stays in youth work’, Andy said.
