Two Roma youth groups from Leeds and Bradford recently came together for an impactful residential at Kingswood Dearne Valley.
The Czech group from Leeds and the Slovakian group from Bradford joined forces in an effort to challenge preconceptions, address tensions, and foster understanding between Czech Roma and Slovakian Roma communities.
Over the residential, the young people participated in confidence-building and teamwork activities, including high ropes, the scrap heap challenge, and archery. These experiences helped the groups bond, overcome fears, and work together, ultimately forming a new group identity.
The residential marked an important first step in building a stronger, united voice to represent Roma people.
A huge thank you to Kingswood Dearne Valley for hosting the group and to our funders for making this transformative experience possible.
