Young people collaborate to create a powerful animation on mental health, gaining BBC recognition and helping to shape better services in Barnsley.
A group of young people from Central Barnsley, aged 13 and 14, have been celebrated for their work on a powerful animation focused on young people’s mental health. Collaborating with Barnsley College students, the group produced the film as part of a project commissioned by Barnsley Council’s Public Health to improve mental health services for young people in the borough.
The group met regularly over six months to plan and edit the animation, showcasing their creativity and commitment. They also played a key role in organising and hosting the premiere event, where they received certificates recognising their incredible efforts. One young person even gave a moving speech about her journey throughout the project.
