In partnership with the Yorkshire Dales National Park, young women were invited to visit the Moonpalace and for a walk around the Ribblehead Viaduct.
Young women from Wakefield and Leeds came together to visit the Yorkshire dales. The aim of the trip was to empower young women and provide them with new experiences, as this was something they had not seen before. The groups had not met before but were all working on our young women’s work projects and therefore this was an exciting opportunity for them to meet new people and share their personal stories of being a young woman growing up in either Leeds or Wakefield.
As well as this, the group had the opportunity to visit the Moonpalace, a piece of artwork on an old, converted school bus, which provides a space for conversations on everything from the world around us to the vastness of our Universe and our impacts on a changing planet.
After this, the group then took a sunset walk around the Ribblehead viaduct, learning the history of how the viaduct was made and taking in the stunning views!
Since the trip, the young women have expressed interest in taking part in another walk in the Yorkshire Dales and setting challenges for themselves. This is something they will be working with youth workers to complete, watch this space…
