In February, groups from across Leeds had the opportunity to visit the Knife Angel at the Royal Armouries Museum, an impactful sculpture made from 100,000 blades seized by police.

The visit was part of a month-long initiative by our StreetSafe Detached teams, dedicated to raising awareness about knife crime and its devastating impact on young people and communities.

The visit to the Knife Angel proved to be a powerful and eye-opening experience for the young people, prompting them to reflect on the consequences of knife crime and consider what can be done to bring about change.

Following the visit, the groups participated in a session on knife crime and shared their thoughts and feedback through a podcast, which explores their views on how the issue can be tackled.

You can listen to the podcast here.

This visit has inspired a new wave of discussions among young people, encouraging them to use their voices to speak out and work together to reduce knife crime in their communities.
