Working to tackle crime & violence at street level
StreetSafe reduces the likelihood of young people engaging in crime and violence, in spaces where other services struggle to reach. Our StreetSafe projects take place in some of the most deprived communities where youth crime, violence and child criminal exploitation pose a significant threat. Youth workers address criminal exploitation, street safety and county lines as priority needs, while providing an outlet for self-expression, voice and recreational activity
Throughout communities across South and West Yorkshire, teams of youth workers engage large numbers of young people, building trusting relationships with some of the hardest to reach groups. On street corners, parks and other congregation spots, the teams run interactive street-based workshops, educating groups on topics such as criminal exploitation, county lines/drugs awareness and knife crime awareness.
StreetSafe is aimed at the most marginalised and disengaged 11-19-year-olds, engaging these young people proactively, in a way that builds aspirations and offers developmental opportunities. Our informal curriculum is centred around the most current issues and the methods adopted are in keeping with youth culture, making the work relevant and accessible to those in most need of support. Most of the work is delivered on street corners, green spaces, outside shops and other outdoor spaces used by young people in their social & leisure time
